Artist Profile:

M. Scott Phifer has become one of Springfield, Missouri’s premiere up and coming artists. Born and raised in Missouri. He attended State Fair Community College in Sedalia before moving to Springfield. Since moving to Springfield in the 90s he has studied privately, honing his natural abilities. He has won an award at the Missouri State Fair and participated in several group shows in Springfield. Losing interest in the wild colors that he used in many of his paintings, he turned to black and white. Working in pen and ink he produced a large collection of smaller pieces. Wanting to work in a larger scale and enjoying the results he got, he started working with soft pastels, producing another large collection of very colorful and imaginative work. He still works in many media and hopes to continue learning and changing.
